These inclusions are not a negative aspect in Emeralds as inclusions are in other gemstones. These inclusions in Emeralds often reassure buyers that the stone is very genuine. Deep green is more desirable, traditionally, where pale coloured stones are known as their species name ‘Green Beryl’. Colour is the most important factor when buying an Emerald. Emeralds have a hardness of 7.5 – 8.0 due to stones normally being highly included. Emeralds are mined from Brazil, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, however some of the most prized Emeralds will come from Colombia.
